Abstract
Sustainable development (SD) is defined as the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The result of the analysis from the gathered data is presented in this summary. The analysis was based on the following research objectives: (1) analyze the concept of SD and applicability to Maritime High Education Institutions (MHEIs); (2) MHEIs integration of sustainability principles in their management, operations and curricula activities; (3) identify barriers to integration; (4) analyze contemporary approaches of MHEIs for SD; (5) suggest ways of improving the SD performance of MHEIs.
